09/26/11 : Redadeg :
Dom is actually in studio working on a new single. This song will be the 2012 Redadeg anthem. Redadeg (race relay in breton) is an event wich put breton language under the spots for one week. Riding around Brittany for 1500 kms, this relay raises money for breton cultural and schools projects. The idea was inspired by Basque race "Korrika". Every year a song is celebrating the event. A video clip is also in the pipeline.

Dom Duff is one of the most exciting and innovative musicians from Brittany, much sought after as a studio and concert guitarist and singer. He is also a wonderful singer-songwriter who started solo in 2000, after being driving force the infamous band Diwall. He spent his childhood in nearby bro Bagan (Pagan County), a coastal area by the Channel sea on the north-west coast of Brittany, close to Roscoff, and, like his parents, speaks breton language fluently.
Crossing breton influences and great guitar licks, all releases are in a cutting edge production.
The new album ROC'H, is in a complete studio mode. It contains a repertoire of refreshing unusual songs inspired by or adopted from his native breton culture. Blending great breton guitar licks, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, words, rythms, melody with folk/rock energy. The result is inventive and no doubt something that falls into the rabidly developing category of "power folk".
"...when Dom sings his breton language, it sounds like an international one." Ouest-France.
"I love those people who are revitalising breton music. Dom DufF for example is very personable, his music comes from the heart." Alan
Stivell.Breton Magazine 08/06.

BURNT SMELL
Little accent in his mouth, leasures shoes for the road
the guy runs through the dark night
His shadow on the soil.
"since I've left my dear country, near Budapest,
I've been lost on the roads, from Dracula town towards the mountains,
I need help, please, a rough coin for my skin,
Hidden my head front of the wolves,
They give me a gun to shoot them!
Now there still here and there, masters again !
My poor land is down, it's seaweed lying the sands,
I'm running, 'don't know why, remembering again,
burnt smell.

HEE, SPEELMAN

MUSE ' SONG
Do you know the song of the Muse
The one that fired us in June
The one that fired your skin ?
Muse, give us the great thrill,
the desire for love, for breath, for colours, for taste.
The sap rises in the trees
Let us stuck our bodies in silence
Let us roll the grass
Or let's lean against this wall.
Have you heard about the song of the Muse,
the Muse of June who goes by
And goes by again.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
CHANT DE LA MUSE
As tu entendu parler

HAPPY
I want to be happy like the horse in the straw,
And again like the abalone in the depths.
I want to be happy like the ball near the pin,
And again like the stew and its sauce.
I want to be happy like the cat in the mousehole,
Just like the she-devil, her feline in pocket.
I want to be happy like the bombarde's shrill song,
Just like the biniou, with his blaring pipes.
And I will be happy, on the heights of Arrée,
Under this snow, glorifying this tip of the world,
And again fulfilled when like the sea,
I storm with rage, sending waves crashing against the shore.
I want to be happy like the boy who exhausts himself dancing,
or like the girl, face turned to the West.
I want to be happy, like Jakez Kroc'hen and his dominos,
Deceiving Sire Bimbochet, who ruins himself gambling.
I want to be happy like the weathercock at the tip of the steeple,
Admiring his beautiful land from the summits of Barnenez to Gavrinis.
I want to be happy like the chests of women dancing the plinn,
up and down : erotic Brittany!

LLAWEN
(translation Rhisiart Hinks)
Fe garwn fod yn llawen, fel ceffyl yn prancio’n ffri,
Fe garwn fod yn llawen, fel cragen o dan y lli’.
Fe garwn fod yn llawen, fel pêl yn sboncio mewn i’r gôl,

Fe garwn fod yn llawen, fel y gath yn hel mewn llwyn,
Yn llawen fel hen reibes, dros ei chrochan yn gwneud swyn.
Fe garwn fod yn llawen, fel bombard yn seinio’n glir,
Yn llawen fel y pibau, yn diasbedain drwy’r tir.
O, dyna lawen fyddaf, yn crwydro’r mynyddoedd mawr,
A thrwch o eira tawel, yn tywynnu ar y llawr.
O, dyna lawen fyddaf, ar fordaith drwy wynt a glaw,
A’r tonnau ffrochwyllt ffyrnig, yn udo fel blaidd, heb daw.
Fe garwn fod yn llawen, dawnsio hyd yr oriau mân,
Neu’n llawen fel merch alltud, wedi cyrraedd Llydaw lân.
Yn llawen fel y gwladwr, mewn bwthyn bach twt a chlyd,
Sy’n gweld y gwŷr mawr llwgwr, yn colli eu pres i gyd.
Yn llon fel ceiliog gwynt gloyw, yn troelli ar frig y to,
Gan syllu, wedi ei hudo, dros ehangder glas ei fro.
Yn llon fel bronn au merched dlos, yn siglo i lawr a lan,
Fy Llydaw’n wlad erotig, bronnau merched ym mhob man !

HEUREUX

TELEMAKAEZH
I am the Moor, Telemaque
Raised in Santo Domingo land
I was bound up at the seashore
And taken aboard the vile Cumberland
I am Telemaque, eh!
With blood and tears as well
In the name of the rain
In the name of my family
A proper black servant: so.
At the end of a long cold month,
The ship roughly handled, so hard to endure
Negro in cursed chains
They crossed the wide sea.
I am Telemaque, eh!
With blood and tears as well
In the name of the rain
In the name of my family
A proper black servant: so.
As the Cumberland was wrecked
In sight of Ouessant, in high seas
I was tossed into a French nave
In upper Léon. Smack in the middle.
I am Telemaque, eh!
With blood and tears as well
In the name of the rain
In the name of my family
A proper black servant: so.
From near Plouénan
fat and peaceful, this is my ship
these Frankish speakers, I know this
I can stand, myself

TELEMAKAEZH
L'on me jette au vaisseau français
En Haut-Léon. En plein milieu
Je suis Télémaque, et alors !
Avec du sang et des larmes aussi
Au nom de la pluie
Au nom des miens
Un valet noir comme il faut : bien.
Des prés de Plouénan
Gras et calmes, c'est mon navire,
Des francs parleurs, je le sais,
Mais mes genoux, peux les lever.

GHOST OF THE LOST
(translation Mary Turner)
What’s all this noise about a ghost
That hangs around every evening
If only it could chase away my anxiety
Instead of chilling me to my bones
If I was that bird, perched on the branch
Way before it snapped
A wave that races, an unaided floodtide
Carried straight to shore by the winds
And if I set my feet to follow the line
I could relax, walk through the mud
I would journey far and journey well
Without ever straying
The misguided Reds, the misleading Blues
Howling like dogs
Come on! Raise the cry: “Jean is back”
Strike a bargain, shout, get back on track!

Viens ! Hurle "Jean est de retour"
Asséner, gueuler, repartir du bon pied !

DE GEEST VAN DE VERDWAALDEN
(Translation Jan Deloof)
Zing “hertog Jan is weer in ’t land”
Met rechte rug! Zing! Wees ongebonden.

CHEERS
(translation Mary Turner)
It matters not who
Follows in my footsteps
Follows me to the other side
The other pub is open
It matters not who
Comes to gossip at the tavern
Some guy there or Miss Manners
Burn up life, confront our dreams
Cheers to you all!
In remembrance of Brandy
Or of anybody else
Slainte !
Iechyd da i bawb
Er cof am gwirod
Nev rywun arall
Yeghes da dhe'n oll
E ev an gwires, na fors piw
No matter, we are still living
And without being dead drunk
We laugh and recreate the world
Before our glasses all the night long.

SANTE
Peu importe, peu importe qui
Marchera sur mes traces,
Me suivra à l'autre bout
L'autre bar est-il ouvert ?
Peu importe, peu importe qui
Viendra bavarder au comptoir
Celui-ci ou Madame "Grimaces"
Pour brûler la vie, confronter nos rêves.
A la vôtre !
En souvenir du Lambig,
Ou de n'importe qui !
A la vôtre !
Peu importe, toujours vivants
Peu importe, peu importe quoi
Nous chanterons,
Nous chanterons fort, à la vôtre,
En avant !
